Basic Info
Name:Kyp Durron
Bio
house is on fire, viper's in the grass
a little revenge and this too shall pass
FULL NAME: Kyp Durron
AGE: 43.
GENDER: Male.
SPECIES: Human.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.
this too shall pass, I'm gonna pray
ALIGNMENT: Light Side, although many might find that hard to believe, or at the very least surprising. Kyp fell to the Dark Side at a young age and although he has been redeemed for decades he still maintains an aggressive attitude that often conflicts with other members of the Jedi Order.
right now all I got's this lonesome day
APPEARANCE: (A Note: Kyp’s appearance seems to change with every book, so I’m going to flip a coin and pick one at random.) Kyp has dark brown hair which is beginning to gray that he wears long and seldom bothers to pull back. His eyes are hazel and his face, while still handsome, is that of someone who has seen far too much suffering and pain in his life. He tends to dress practically, in a tunic, pants and Jedi cloak which is convenient for a quick disguise. All his clothes seem to have an old, worn look about them, and while this can make him look dirty or disheveled he doesn’t really seem to care; he has an air of confidence about him that goes beyond his appearance.
It's all right it's all right it's all right
PERSONALITY: Kyp tends to come off as a jerk; he’s aggressive and confident to a point that can be interpreted as arrogance. He always seems to disagree with whoever he is talking to and tends to spend a lot of time arguing with other Jedi. He has a very aggressive view on the Force; in his mind if using it as a weapon will help the galaxy in the long run it should by done. The ends absolutely justify the means. He also does not believe the Jedi Order should be answerable to anyone but itself, particularly the Galactic Alliance. These views have put him at odds with the other members of the Jedi Council more than once, and tend to get him in trouble. He’s not a bad person, he just comes off as one.

Despite being occasionally annoying, Kyp is a very brave and determined Jedi. Deep down he still feels a need to atone for what he did while under the influence of the Dark Side and while he might keep those feelings private they nevertheless drive him to do everything he can to keep the galaxy and its citizens safe.
better ask questions before you shoot
UNIQUE ABILITIES: Kyp has vast amount of Force ability – some have said even more than Luke Skywalker himself. Where his particular talent lies with it, though, it when it comes to mind control. He can access the minds of others with ease and has no trouble reading them, controlling their thoughts and words, or modifying their memories.

He’s very skilled with his violet bladed lightsaber, and has years of combat experience; it takes a very talented Jedi to defeat him.

He’s also a pilot, and particularly comfortable with X-Wings. He has led two of his own snub fighter squadrons as well as served in Jaina Solo’s Twin Suns squadron.
deceit and betrayals bitter fruit
HISTORY: Kyp Durron was born on the colony world of Deyer, where is parents, political activists, often protested the Empire. When he was 9 years old his family was rounded up by a band of Imperial Stormtroopers; Kyp and his parents were sent as slaves to the spice mines on the prison world of Kessel, while his older brother, Zeth, was taken to the Imperial training world of Carida. Kyp’s parents died in the mines, leaving him on his own except for a very brief friendship he formed with Vima-Da-Boda, a fallen Jedi who taught him a few basic skills with the Force before she was taken away.

Kyp’s life became no more than the daily backbreaking work in the pitch black of the mines where he somehow managed to stay alive for 8 years until he met two new prisoners; Han Solo and Chewbacca. The three managed to escape, and Kyp was even able to use his innate talent with the Force to pilot them through the Maw cluster of black holes only to end up leading them to a top secret Imperial facility run by Admiral Daala that had created the Sun Crusher a super weapon the size of an ordinary space ship capable of destroying a sun with it’s torpedoes. The trio escaped on it, along with Qwi Xux, the scientist who had created it. It was eventually flown into the heart of the gas giant Yavin to prevent if from being used. Kyp agreed to train at Luke Skywalker’s newly formed Jedi Academy on Yavin 4.

He advanced in his studies quickly, in part because of his immense Force potential but also because of his eagerness to learn. Soon, however, Kyp came to view Luke as weak, a Jedi who was limited in his views and his teachers. While exploring the jungle one day he came across the ancient temple of the Sith Lord Exar Kun, and encountered his spirit. He quickly fell under the influence of his teachings and tumbled head first into the clutches of the Dark Side. He used his new powers to strike down Luke, ripping his spirit from his body before pulling the Sun Crusher from its hiding place inside Yavin. Using it he traveled to Endor to search out Anakin Skywalker’s funeral pyre where he proclaimed himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith. He then tracked down Qwi Xux and used the Force to rip through her mind, uncovering all she knew about the Sun Crusher.

Driven by vengeance for what had been done to him and his family he first attempted to destroy Daala with the Sun Crusher before traveling to Carida where he demanded his long lost brother be returned to him. When the Imperial training base informed him Zeth was dead he tired a torpedo into the heart of Carida’s sun, sending a chain reaction that caused it to go nova. It turned out the Imperials had been lying to him; Zeth was alive and although Kyp rushed to save him, he was not fast enough. His brother, and the entire world, disappeared before his eyes.

The guilt and pain caused by his actions drove him deeper into the Dark Side, but Han Solo and Luke Skywalker finally managed to track him down and turn him back to the light. He destroyed the Sun Crusher by piloting it into the Maw cluster, only surviving by stuffing himself into a message pod, breaking many of his bones and slowing his bodily functions in order to survive.

He was rescued and welcomed back into the Jedi Order, but although his body recovered Kyp’s mind and spirit took much longer. He had a difficult time forgiving himself, remaining terrified he would succumb to the Dark Side and occasionally even having a hard time finding the will to live. He slowly recovered his self-confidence and regained faith in himself over the course of several Jedi missions, eventually becoming one of the most powerful Jedi in the Order.

Kyp took Miko Reglia as his apprentice, and together they formed the Dozen-and-Two-Avengers, a vigilante snub fighter squadron that was the first to encounter the Yuuzhan Vong; Kyp was the only survivor. He later formed another squadron known as Kyp’s Dozen, and continued his aggressive approach to the conflict that often starkly contrasted with the views of the other Jedi Masters. He even tricked Jaina Solo into helping him destroy a worldship he claimed was a super weapon, a deception that severely damaged his reputation and credibility within the Jedi Order. After the fall of Coruscant, he was one of the Jedi who reached Hapes, where he helped pull Jaina Solo back from the Dark Side. She briefly apprenticed herself to him, and the experience helped to stable him as well, at least a bit. He was even appointed to the newly formed Jedi Council at the end of the war.

During the Dark Nest crisis Kyp continued to cause trouble, agreeing with Mara Jade Skywalker that the Jedi Order should not be answerable to the Galactic Alliance. He also clashed with Corran Horn when the other Jedi was appointed as a temporary Jedi leader while Luke was out of contact on Woteba. Kyp claimed it was an attempt to splinter the Jedi Order, and that Luke was the leader of the Jedi Order. He strongly opposed Cal Omas as a result, and continued his arguments that the Galactic Alliance should have no control over the Jedi Order.
it's hard to swallow, come time to pay
POINT IN CANON: Shortly after the end of the Dark Nest Crisis, 36 years ABY.
